Bengare: Peace at the Arabian Sea

This last Sunday night in Manipal I took a trip with some friends down Kodi Bengare Hoode Road, toward Delta Beach…but we stopped a bit short. This road is gorgeous as it has the river on the right side, and the sea on the left.

A good maps snapshot of the road. The river to the right, and the sea to the left.

This beautiful isolated beach was pristine, free of trash, and serene. My friends had found this gentleman named Arun who brought us out some chairs and a little table. Here we were able to order from Arun a delicious dinner with all the local flavors as the sun set (pictures below). It was a beautiful end to a wonderful stay in Manipal.

Delicious local dinner. We ate Fish Fry, Sukka Chicken (made with coconut) and Neer Dosa. It was delicious...oh and did i mention? Only Rs. 25-30 per plate. There was also a local fermented coconut drink as well, "Toddy" which I was not fond of, but definitely worth a try.

The sun looked to be on fire.

This beach is very dangerous. The soil of sea bed is loose and steep inside. One of my close friend died here. Don’t go to this killer beach. It may be beautiful but it takes life. 😦

is it safe to play in water in delta beach??

  3. I’m not sure if the beach is safe or not – we didn’t go in. It was beautiful though. For most beaches, especially ones without lifeguards, I wouldn’t suggest going in deeper than your hipbone. That way you are still mostly out of the water, so the current can’t drag you out to sea.

  4. Enjoyed photos
    Nice & beutiful
