Manipal: SAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Last week our study abroad celebrated Halloween in typical American fashion, dressing up and hanging out with friends. Halloween celebrations have definitely been on the rise in recent years in India, though not to the same extent as in the US. It was strange not to see the pumpkins, witches, spiderwebs and hay decorating all manner of shops, homes and buildings. While the weather was still warm, we drank some mulled some apple cider and ate some popcorn, candy from a Halloween pumpkin shaped basket and apples coated with cinnamon sugar – oh and some dragon fruit too (practically a mystical creature and all)…

What shocked me was the large number of Halloween costumes that I was able to see roaming around Halloween night. Much planning was involved as many had their costumes tailored just for the night! I just bought some pieces and put them together to make Mrs. Incredible from the Incredibles!

Mrs. Incredible can still be scared by a ghost!

*SAP refers to the name that the university has given us..”Study Abroad Program” Students.
